On The Shoulder

A fully refurbished and re-tooled Blema KEAXG 100 single liner has been installed at a UK end making plant for the production of 154 mm diameter tinplate ends for seaming on paper board (composite) cans.
High shoulder compound placement is required when ends are to be seamed on paper board cans, and this is the first time water based compound has been employed for this application at a UK factory. The production of the first samples was supervised by Jose Trigo from Actega Artistica http://www.actega.com/artistica.html who supplied samples of a specially developed food grade sealant in different viscosities to enable the optimum placement to be achieved.
Jose can be seen in the above picture (right) watching as the customers operator and Eurocan's engineering manager Brian Matthews (centre), put ends through the liner.
This short video clip shows the Eurocan MK6 EF compound gun applying the sealant. Actuated by dual electro-magnetic solenoids, EF compound guns provide optimum control of opening and closing times, and precise 'on the fly' automatic needle lift adjustment for easy set-up and quality control.
